Now We Are Six.

My beautiful daughter,
Today you are six. Yesterday you were just five but today you enter a whole new adventure, one you have been waiting for, for so many months... I haven't, so much... six seems so old for my little girl, my first baby I ever loved with all my heart. I remember the moment you joined us, so clearly. The moment when your Granny first saw you, even before I did, and said, with tears of amazement in her eyes, 'Oh, Donni, it's a girl!' I held you against my heart and you gazed, intensely, into my eyes. In that moment, I was overwhelmed with a love I had never felt before... a love of unimagined strength and an understanding that my heart-strings would always, always, be tied to yours. I was now 'Mother' and you were my most precious gift. I knew I could never love more than I loved you at that moment.

For six years I have watched you blossom. I have marveled at your first words, your gorgeous imagination, your protective love for your brother and, can you believe, my love has grown! It has grown and grown with every day, and every moment, and I now know that a mother's love is infinite. I love you with all my heart today and yet I know I will love you even more tomorrow.

Thank you, my little girl, for awakening this fire in my soul. You and your brother are my greatest joys. I value, immensely, all we have shared and I look forward to all the new experiences we will enjoy together.

I am so very proud of you.

All my love, my Kitty,
Blessings and magic to you on your Birthday today,
Love
Mom

"one of my most favorite photos of you"

Your Birthday celebration was very special today. We decorated our breakfast table with all of your favorite treasures.

You chose your precious deers that Santa brought you. And picked Black-eyed Susans from the garden.

A mound of silk clad presents awaited temptingly.

We lit your candles... three red ones signifying me, Dad and T. And 6 golden ones, one for each year of your life... a tiny acorn candle for when you were one, walnut candles for when you were two and three, a milkweed pod candle for when you were four, a glittery star candle for when you were five and a great, golden pine cone candle for your sixth birthday today.

At last it was time to open your gifts...

You got a book about fairies, a flower press, a snow globe soap, a golden bell and a silver fairy.
And then the fairy whispered something in my ear... she said for you to go outside, for there were new friends who were eager to meet you. You ran outside to find your new bunnies...

You are so delighted with them and have spent the whole day cuddling, stroking and feeding them. They have scratched you, but still you love them. They have already had 3 names each today but you went to bed today calling the white bunny Sparkles and the black bunny Clara. You are a delight to your dad and me.

Good night my sweet six year-old, sleep tight with your grand dreams and your wondrous imaginings.

Now We Are Six

When I was one, I had just begun,
When I was two, I was nearly new,
When I was three, I was hardly me,
When I was four, I was not much more,
When I was five, I was just alive,
But now I am six, I'm as clever as clever,
So I think I'll be six now and forever.

Blessings and magic.

I agree with the comment from Ivy. I think you need to save this heartfelt letter and put it in your daughter's treasure box to enjoy when she has a six year old of her own.
