Thank you for coming to visit us and sharing in the life we have made for ourselves here in the United States. It meant the world to me to have you with us. I loved that you wanted to do nothing special. All you were interested in was joining in with the little things we do everyday. Thank you for finding them special... the making of pet rocks, the climbing of the high ladder at the park, the reading of bedtime stories.
Seeing you so happy doing these funny little things with us will be a precious memory I will cherish.
It was a joy to come to 'your rooms' for early morning tea, a delight to hear my little boy call you 'Bodee' with such urgency when he saw a plane and wanted you to see it too and a wonder to see my shy K jump into your arms even when she first saw you at the airport. Wasn't she your closest friend from then on? Do you remember how she dressed up to meet you.
We both know that it has taken me a long time to get to this place of happiness. A lot of longing for home and wishing for your daily presence. I'm sure you heart is glad to have seen for yourself that our days are full and joyful and full of love. I miss you terribly but not with the same sadness I once had.
Thank you for your steading wisdom. Thank you for enjoying being Grampa. My poor darling K, just starting to experience the emotion of compassion, has asked me at least 15 times today if I am sad. I answer her... 'Yes, I am very sad'. But the only times I have cried has been when T has woken up, both this morning and this afternoon after his nap. Both times, he has immediately pointed at the door and said, imploringly, 'Bodee?'
Our home is so full of reminders that you were here... K played in your Fairy Garden this afternoon while I watered the veggies you so lovingly planted. We will watch them grow with happiness and say a little 'Thank you Grampa' before we pick them and eat them, still warm from the golden sun.
Come back soon.

Oh my, tears here too. I have enjoyed seeing him share your days too and will miss him.
I have tears starting to stream down my face... This was so beautiful to read. Hugs to you, I hope each day becomes a little easier for you. It sounds like your dad had an amazing visit... Much love to you from Linda in South Africa....
SO sweet! This made me cry. What a nice visit.

Oh another weeper here! My dad also lives far, far away and my dd doesn't really know him at all. How lucky you are to have such a relaxed and beautiful visit.
Hugs to you. I can just imagine how precious this time with your Dad has been for you and especially him getting to know his dear grandchildren. I am in the same place as you. My parents are in southern africa and have met my children once two years ago now when we went back to Zimbabwe to see them (the youngest they have never met). Trying to squeeze precious memories into 2 or so weeks is hard but so very precious. It was so hard to leave and settle again without them. You have been in my thoughts all this time your Dad has been visiting you. It must give him much peace and happiness to see and be part of your daily joy in your life. And for him to needle felt with you - wonderful!! Holding you in my thoughts and richest blessings to you.
Sniff. I cried too. I'm off to see my Dad in Ohio on Friday. We only manage once or twice a year. Not enough!
Thanks to all of you for your kind words and thoughts... it's just another reminder that the time we spend with our loved ones is SO SO precious.
Oh wow, I'm crying too. What a treasure to have spent time with your dad. I hope he can visit again soon.
