The Sunny House

Two years ago, my Good Man came home from a run and announced (in a 'runners high' kind of way) that he had found us a house. We all bundled into the car and, with much excitement, he took us to a little run-down ranch house and said "this is the one"!

Although it wasn't beautiful at all, I quickly saw the potential he had seen. It was on a small hill that overlooked the lagoon with lovely water views... quite a rare thing in flat Southern California. There was a majestic avocado tree in the yard as well as a sweet and fruitful plum tree.

OK, I said and thus began our journey to The Sunny House.

A Good Man is a builder and I can honestly say that he has built this house with his very own hands.

Within a few months, the little yellow house was demolished and the bones of our new one was etched into the land.

It was a pure adventure for Kitty and Teddy... trenches to hide in, planks to walk, nails to hammer.

 There are little precious momento's of us everywhere - our fingerprints and hand-prints in the concrete and treasures hidden everywhere.

Then the skeleton went up and we could at last see that a house would live there soon.

Two years later, here we are at last... we moved into The Sunny House last weekend and feel like we are in the middle of a fun vacation.

Most of the boxes have been unpacked.

None of the pictures are up.

The chandelier went up last night.

 And we have been eating CocoKrispies for breakfast, a treat reserved for camping expeditions.

I will share more photos as The Sunny House develops but, for now, we are basking in the glow of the early morning sun as it rises over the lagoon.
