Halloween is new for me. We didn't celebrate Halloween in South Africa which is where I grew up... don't ask me why it was forgotten there. It's such a fun holiday for a child, dressing up and getting candy... what more could a child ask for? But, for some reason, South African tradition chose not to include this fun night. What a shame!
It was only when K was 3 that I realized the wonder that is Halloween. K insisted on being Dorothy. I searched Ebay for a dress that would fit her and eventually found one. I kept it hidden until Halloween night and was quite the hero when I made a beautiful Dorothy dress magically appear! It was just what she wanted. When she put it on, A Good Man and I were completely speechless... we had never seen anything quite so adorable (mother and father's bias allowed here!)
She had the best night ever (and so did we)... we think she actually thought she was Dorothy! AND she collected a WHOLE bucket full of candy, which was kind of forbidden until then. She fell asleep in her Dorothy dress, long after the stars had come out, happily exhausted and, just as happily, sticky.
Last year was T's turn to be the cutest thing ever (again, beware of mother's bias!) He was Pepi Le Pew. He thought that he couldn't move his head with his hood on and spent the whole evening looking straight ahead, moving just his eyes this way or that. A Good Man and I were truly enchanted with our little lover boy. He was too funny!
So, now that Halloween has become a BIG thing in our house, we are desperately looking forward to the 31st of October. We are making the most of the Halloween fun and will be posting all sorts of Halloween activities. What will we be this year? Well... you'll just have to wait and see!
Blessings and magic.

D, I saw that adorable little Dorothy in my dashboard and I HAD to come running over here! Way to cute for words (no bias involved, although there could be some blogger friend bias, but it's a fact that you have super cute little ones, bias or no bias!).
T's photo almost made me spit out my coffee b/c of his super cute expression! Love it that he didn't turn his head! Another cutie!
Have a lovely day!

Oh, my goodness!!
So very, very cute!! I love that your son only moved his eyes left and right! : )
My dear, I'm from Greece and I've discovered accidentally your blog some months ago! It's one of my favourites!!! This connection with the nature and the Waldorf filosofy that reveals to me all this grateness the God gave us, makes me so...Happy! I loose my words...You see,I'm a child grown up in nature, but now I'm living in Athens, the capital city of Greece. So there is so little of nature around me, my husband and our three little girls. I don't want for them to grow up being afraid of even...butterflies (!!!) or other creatures of nature. We have a little backyard, but it is not enough for me :-( I grab every chance for talking and showing to them the natural way of living! When we have spare time we go to the sea (they love it) or to the forest. And I learn to them everything, the more I can the better! Besides that,we do many things at home and they like it much!
I just want to thank you, because you and your family (and blog) is an inspiration to me!
Many congrats and thanks, again!!!
Love, Vailie ;-)
