A Gnome's Feast.

We had the great fortune of finding the most gorgeous mushroom.
We just knew it had to be a gnomes dinner table. We decided to surprise the gnome and set it for him so that he could get straight into his hearty dinner on his return from collecting moss...

We found two bowls, a cup, a vase, a flower, two logs for seats, a comfy blue chair and a feather for shade.

We found a pot, a soup ladle and a dandelion flower as gnomes just adore dandelion soup.
We found a ball (apparently gnomes like to play soccer after dinner) and a couple of tiny pine cones to add their forresty fragrance.

And we enclosed it in a magic circle of berries.
We did sit, hidden, in the bushes, for quite a while afterwards, hoping we might see him but, alas, we didn't. K thought it was because T didn't quite get the hiding thing and kept making a noise saying he wanted the ball  (or in T's language; 'BALL! BALL! BALL!) But I'm sure there was a happy gnome who arrived home to such a cozy feast... even if his soccer ball was missing!

Just wanted to let you know that my kids loved your post so much, we created our own little fairy table for the leprechauns. Thank you for the inspiration! When you get a chance, stop by our blog to see the last two posts. :)

What a brilliant adventure...just the sort of thing we like to do....have you built a faery house for your house-brownie yet? I fear ours may have deserted us...I'm sure I'm not keeping the house tidy enough...*grin*

Wonderful. It is indeed a gnome's table--it has got to be one.

We had a lovely fairy living in our backyard for the past two summers, but we believe she may have moved. Although we see signs of her it's not clear exactly to where in our yard she has relocated. She used to use the tiny fairy door at the base of our Maple tree, but when it began to dryrot I think she must have decided it was time to head out--Benjamin's dad was going to rebuild the door for her, but we just never got around to it. Hopefully we'll see signs of her next May's Eve...Dad should have had time to rebuild her door for her by that time. ;)
